ACQUISITIONS EDITOR MATERIALS SCIENCE/INDUSTRIAL CHEMISTRY (F/M/D)

We are looking for an ambitious new team member for our editorial office Science, Technology, Medicine based in Berlin or internationally (remote). You will be responsible for the acquisition of new publication projects as well as the further development and international orientation of the Materials Science/ Industrial Chemistry department. The position offers a permanent contract.

Your Task 

  • Strategic development and international orientation of the division in coordination with the Vice President STM
  • Acquisition of scientific content (books, book series, open access, online products) in the above-mentioned field in coordination with the Vice President STM
  • Support and expansion of the network of authors, editors and societies
  • Budget responsibility regarding economic goals and publication dates
  • Cooperation with other departments (production, marketing and sales)
  • Constant market observation and preparation of market and competitor analyses
  • Representation of the department at conferences at home and abroad

 

Your profile

  • An above-average university degree in a relevant field, possibly with a doctorate or comparable training
  • Strong focus on customer needs and market opportunities
  • Several years of professional experience in the conception and acquisition of content
  • Contacts to scientists and scientific institutions, preferably an own network
  • Negotiating skills and team-oriented communication
  • Good project management skills
  • Understanding of business management contexts
  • Very good time management, reliable priority setting and efficiency in the implementation of the responsible goals
  • A high degree of mobility and commitment as well as the willingness to take on new challenges
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills
  • Ability to travel
